The Coffee House Social Atmosphere, Rich Aromas
I like how Jason Simon of CaffeinatedConversations describes the coffee house as the local social outlet:
"Coffeehouses
emerged in London during the mid 1600’s, they became synonymous with
trade and news—quick and reliable access to it—establishing themselves
as the home of merchants, people of science (natural and political),
and philosophers. They ultimately provided a location for the
overlapping interests of commerce and politics, simulating debates and
conversation..."
The modern day coffee shop is much like
it was back in the day, a social outlet for locals to meet and discuss
the latest news, whether it be business or family related.
From Portland's Coffee Plant
coffeeshop fighting corporate coffee one sip at a time to the big
Starbucks who puts a lot of effort into localizing each shop and making
it a place to chit chat, catch up on email or just simply enjoy a cup
of coffee, the coffee house is an important part of culture.
As
a business professional (or laptop renegade as I call myself) who works
from home, I cannot tell you how many times I've used the local coffee
bar as my office. Free wifi, beautifully tantilizing aromas, access to
conversation... coffeeshops just make you feel warm and cozy.
Submit your favorite coffeeshop (and picture if you have it) to me via Twitter and I'll post it on here.
Return from Coffee House to
Home.
